The Dinning Experience

How many times have you gone out to eat, casual or fancy, and the food and experience just was not worth the time and money? Well tonight we went out to dinner at the Keg Steakhouse, located in Lynnwood, WA. It has been a while since we have eaten there. You know how it is, time to tighten the belt and finances. People today are eating in more than they are eating out, and today was an example of that. The Keg restaurant was slow for a Sunday afternoon. Usually, there is a 15-20 minute wait, sometimes even longer. Our family of four was able to walk right in, and be seated.

The Keg is known for their Prime Rib so that is what three of us ordered. The waitress was very nice and extremely attentive to our needs and requests. The bread and salad came quickly, and the water was constantly being filled. There was a little bit of a wait for our food, given the fact that they were not very busy, however soon the food arrived and we were all eating. The waitress again, came to see if we were doing well, and needed anything. The thing that I really liked was that 3 minutes after we received our food, she did not come and ask us "How is everything". I hate that. So many times, I want to say "Well, I don't know you just gave it to me, give me a moment to try a few bits".

It appeared that my husband's Prime Rib was cold, however, as soon as we let our waitress know, she was jolly on the spot to get him another. The General Manager soon came to our table with the fresh, hot Prime Rib, apologizing for the quality he had received. We were impressed how quickly they fixed the problem and we were back eating and enjoying our dinner again. Shortly after we completed our meal, we had our table being cleared and boxes being offered.

Overall, this was a nice dinning experience that we thought was well worth the time and money we spent. I would give this overall dinning experience and restaurant 4 out of 5 stars. The only thing that could have made this better was the wait time before our dinner came, and the fact that we had a cold Prime Rib, however, it was resolved very quickly.

For those who are looking for a nice dinning experience, I would recommend giving them a try. We have been to The Keg many times, but I think this was one of the nicest experience. In this economy, restaurants are all having a hard time, so they have to be competitive and the Keg did that tonight.

What has your dinning experiences been like? Who do you like best? Who do you like least?

Let me know your thoughts and who you would recommend.

Select Comfort Bed - To buy or Not to buy!

Ok, so have you thought about buying one of those Select Comfort number beds? Do you have one? Do you like it or hate it? Well, we had one, and after 4 yrs of nothing but problems, we finally sent it back. It was not an easy task mind you. The customer service that we experienced was terrible. They wanted to charge me every time there was a part they wanted to send me when they thought they new what the fix was. After 1 yr, the company begins to prorate your warranty. This means that the 20 yr warranty that you "think" you have, you really do not. The customer service reps will go through a series of questions, trying to find the "ah ha" item that is the real problem.

After 3.5 yrs, I was done working with the customer service idiots and began looking for the corporate offices. I was told by one of the customer service reps that I would not be able to locate or speak with someone from corporate. After searching and calling information, I did find it. I was also given a contact phone number while searching the groups on Facebook. Amazingly enough, there were others that experienced the same issue I did. When my husband got out of bed, I would roll over onto his side, and it was like falling off a cliff or rolling down the hill. They sent me, an entire bed, three times and still we experienced this issue. Long story short, I worked with the VP of Customer Service @ corporate. She was really helpful UNTIL I sent my bed back. It was at this time that she could have come out the hero, but instead she made it more of a hassle to return this piece of junk bed, plus refused to expedite my refund so that I could purchase another bed. In the meantime, we put off bills to purchase another bed, so that we did not have to sleep on the floor. We decided to pay for the shipping ourselves to prevent them from deducting the shipping from our refund. The company sent us two RMA (Return Merchandise Auth.) labels, and when I used them, the corporate rep told me that I should have called  to ask what they were for prior to using them. She even tried to deduct the shipping until I blew a head gasket. In addition, she told me that it would take an additional 21 days to process before sending me my check. The funniest thing was when I went to the local UPS store to send it out, one of the gals that work there has been experiencing the same thing with her bed. Wow! Imagine That.

After I explained that they red label parts out, they can darn well, red label my check, I think she finally got the message, I was not a happy customers. I immediately went onto such sites as Facebook and Twitter to send my negative message about this company. The entire refund experience took almost six weeks. I was so happy to finally receive my long awaited refund and be rid of this company.

The bottom line about this product: Customers should never have to "work" for good customer service no matter what they pay for that product or service. This is an over priced, glorified camping mattress. I know there are those who own them and they are happy. I don't think that 100% of their products fail, however, I do feel that the majority of them DO!. The company is fine until there is a problem and that is where they fall short. The stores are always slow because their products are too expensive, and shoppers have other alternatives for that comfy night sleep.

My final thought: If this company was doing so well, why are there so many people that are unhappy with them, and why is their stock dropping? and why is the company up for sale? As much as I don't want to see anyone lose their job, this is a company that will not be around forever. Companies such as Sleep Country have recently dropped this product due to the many, and I do mean many, issues they have experienced with Select Comfort products.

Let me know what you have experienced, or what your thoughts are on this product~

Thank you & sleep well

Introduction Post

Hello, all you shoppers out there. I decided to create this blog to talk and discuss our shopping experiences in this economy. I got tired of buying stuff that I thought I wanted just because the company did a good job with there advertising. In this economy, we have to be smart. Companies run after the all might dollar, not caring about the consumer. Once the sale is closed, so is the caring attitude that they showed when you were shopping.

I want to hear from all of you who have had a good experience, bad experience, loves a product or hates a product. This is where the consumers can talk and discuss products, services and yes even current events.
In this blog, we can discuss schools, good and bad. We can offer tips and advice that someone else might find helpful.

Later today, I will share my experience with Select Comfort. To buy or not to buy, that would be the question, and I will let you know why I will never buy their product again and how they treat the customer that spends $2,000.

Until next time, shop carefully out there.
